Kindergarteners have grown so much this year! The children who came to me not even knowing all their letter names or sounds can now read whole books! I’m so proud of each and every one of them, and grateful for the privilege of spending the year with them.
We finished up the year with a field trip on May 22. We visited the Iowa Arboretum where the director taught us about plants and we had a picnic with our families to celebrate our wonderful year. The annual track meet was a lot of fun, a good way to showcase the skills we have been learning in PE and to practice good sportsmanship.
Even in the midst of lots of year-end celebrations, our learning isn’t done! We are working hard to finish up our memory verses. During Literacy we are working on a writing activity based on The Hungry Little Caterpillar by Eric Carle and still doing lots of reading and math. In STEM we are learning about insects and we planted our own seeds.
Outside of the regular academics, Kindergarteners have grown in their ability to be kind and forgiving, to problem solve and to have confidence in themselves! Most importantly, the kindergarteners have grown in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
