Middle School - November 2023

5th and 6th Grade

God has truly blessed this group of students with servant hearts that shine His love day after day.

In Religion, we’ve been studying heroes of the Old Testament and learning about the Reformation. It’s an incredible opportunity to remember and celebrate that we’re saved by grace, through faith! It’s been wonderful hearing the students’ insights and seeing how they live their faith each day.

In Language Arts, we’re wrapping up our units on nouns. We’ve also been enjoying some creative writing, and it’s always exciting to hear the stories everyone comes up with. We certainly have a talented group of writers!

Our theme for Friendzy this month is “Love at All Times.” We’ve been focusing on how God asks us to love others all the time, even when it’s hard. We’ve discussed ways to show love through both our words and actions, and we celebrate the fact that Christ loves us unconditionally, even when we’re far from perfect. This focus is something we’ll carry with us for the rest of the school year (and hopefully for the rest of our lives!).

7th & 8th Grade

Mark 16:15: Jesus said, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”

This month, we took our learning on the road with a visit to Mission Central near Mapleton, where Mark 16 truly comes to life. As Pastor Schultz guided us through Mission Central, we were reminded of four key things:

  1. We are all missionaries.

  2. God created each of us very special.

  3. Because Jesus walked out of His grave, someday we will walk out of ours.

  4. There are two kinds of people in this world: those who trust in God and those who trust in something else.

We were amazed by the many items collected from nations around the world. It was a powerful reminder that God has given us the responsibility to teach the Gospel to all nations. Praise God for the work of so many missionaries sharing the message of salvation in Jesus across the globe.

Our next stop was in Denison, where we visited Blue Space Creative, a company focused on marketing, branding, and advertising. It was fascinating to see how companies work with them to develop their branding. The building was filled with technology and creative spaces like the “think space,” a room designed to boost brainstorming. We were surprised to learn that many of the logos and brands we see every day were developed right there in Denison. Many of the Fareway items we use daily are part of Blue Space’s creative advertising and labeling.

Thank you to all of our drivers and chaperones for making this day possible!
